went skating on the lake this morning
it’s kinda awesome that I live here now
Muskwa put his paws in the snow today
just a typical night in Pinehouse walking home after Girl Guides.
opps, turns out Muskwa’s a boy. He still likes his new heart collar though.
nice walk to school today
In addition to Muskwa, I’ve taken in another stray. This one, suitably named Céos (pronounced Chaos), came to my house just over two weeks ago at 8:30pm with a bleeding lip. The girls that brought her to me said bigger kids had taken her and after throwing her around a bit, put sand in her mouth then rubbed her lips around. I kept her for a night then told the girls to find her a home. She went home with another family then last week ended up back at school, the family didn’t want her anymore. The vice principal arrived at my door just after recess with her wrapped up in a blanket starving, cold, and wet.
This weekend she’s going to the SPCA in Prince Albert and will hopefully get adopted. She’s not the cutest (sucks at getting pictures taken) but her natural mohawk and love of cuddles will steal the heart of anyone.
About four weeks ago a kid in my class brought this kitten to school (kids bringing abused strays in is a common occurrence). She was basically dead. Another teacher took her for the morning and tried desperately to get her to drink some milk. I checked on her at recess and she hadn’t drank anything, had shallow breathing, and wasn’t moving. I agreed to take her home and take care of here through the night and be with her until she passed. When I got her at the end of the day I carried her home in a box. I got in the house, turned on the heat, and tried to get her to drink some warm milk. She crawled out of my arms, drank some milk, settled on my lap and napped for a few minutes until one of my friends came over. It looked like she was at least going to make it a few more hours. I’m in a extremely isolated community so her litter box was a dish pan (with the sides cut down so she could get in) with some sand in it. She drank warm milk for two days until someone from the community took the 3hr trip to the next closest community and got her some food.
Four weeks later, I’ve still got here. She was named Muskwa by a local which is Cree for “bear”.
finally have internet!
All moved in in Pinehouse. Still no internet, but get to see this whenever I want.
